COMPOSITION

It is a white-cream colored, bisect tablet containing 300 mg Oxfendazole and 600 mg Oxyclozanide per tablet.

PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES

Oksavet Oral Tablet is a broad-spectrum antiparasitic combination used in cattle and sheep against liver flukes, gastrointestinal nematodes, lungworms, and tapeworms.

Oxfendazole: A benzimidazole derivative anthelmintic. It acts by inhibiting fumarate reductase enzyme activity in parasites and disrupting energy metabolism. After oral administration, it is absorbed to a limited extent from the digestive tract and excreted via urine and feces.

Oxyclozanide: A salicylanilide derivative anthelmintic. It acts by uncoupling oxidative phosphorylation in parasites. After oral administration, it is largely absorbed from the digestive tract, reaching high concentrations in the liver, kidneys, and intestines. It is excreted via bile in the form of glucuronide conjugates.

AREA OF USE/INDICATIONS

It is used for the treatment and prevention of mature and immature gastrointestinal and lung nematodes, liver flukes, and adult Moniezia spp. Tapeworms in cattle and sheep.

In cattle:

Liver flukes: Fasciola hepatica, F. gigantica (adult)

Gastrointestinal nematodes: Ostertagia spp., Haemonchus spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Nematodirus spp., Strongyloides spp., Bunostomum spp., Trichuris spp.

Lungworms: Dictyocaulus viviparus

Tapeworms: Moniezia spp.

In sheep:

Liver flukes: Fasciola hepatica, F. gigantica

Gastrointestinal nematodes: Ostertagia spp., Haemonchus spp., Trichostrongylus spp., Cooperia spp., Oesophagostomum spp., Nematodirus spp., Strongyloides spp., Chabertia spp., Trichuris spp.

Lungworms: Dictyocaulus filaria

Tapeworms: Moniezia spp.

USAGE AND DOSAGE

Pharmacological dose: Oxyclozanide 15–20 mg/kg, Oxfendazole 5–7.5 mg/kg body weight is administered orally.

Practical dose: 1 tablet /40 kg body weight

Lamb: ½ tablet

Sheep: 1 tablet

Calf: 3–4 tablets

Cattle: 5 tablets

ADVERSE EFFECTS

When administered orally, no significant adverse effects are expected. Mild dyspnea, hypotension, defecation, or urination may occur but are temporary and disappear within a few hours.

DRUG INTERACTIONS

When it is used with bromsalan, it may cause abortion in cows and death in sheep, so it should not be used with these products.

WITHDRAWAL PERIODS

Meat: Cattle 28 days, sheep 14 days.

Milk: 5 days (10 milkings) for calve. Do not use in lactating sheep producing milk for human consumption.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

It is not recommended for animals with hepatic failure.

Use during pregnancy: Due to the embryotoxic and teratogenic effects of benzimidazole anthelmintics, use is contraindicated during mating season and the first third of gestation.

GENERAL WARNINGS

Consult a veterinarian before use and in case of unexpected reactions. Keep out of reach of children.

PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN BY THE ADMINISTRATOR AND WARNINGS FOR VETERINARY SURGEON

Avoid contact with the product. Wash hands after use.

STORAGE CONDITIONS AND SHELF LIFE

It should be stored in the original packaging, protected from light, below 25°C, without refrigeration or freezing. Shelf life is 3 years.

DISPOSAL AFTER USE AND WARNINGS FOR NON-TARGET SPECIES

Empty containers should be disposed of as household waste.

COMMERCIAL PRESENTATION FORM

1x10 and 15x10 tablets in blister with boxes.
