PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Levamisole is an imidazole derivative with antihelminthic activity. Levamisole exerts its effect by paralyzing parasites. This paralysis occurs as a result of the parasites' autonomic ganglia being stimulated in a manner similar to nicotine. Levamisole has an antihelminthic effect on both adult and larval forms of gastrointestinal lungworms and ascarids that cause invasion.

After oral administration, it is rapidly absorbed from the digestive tract and distributed throughout the body. Blood concentration peaks within 1-2 hours. The plasma half-life in cattle is 4-6 hours. Approximately 40% of the administered drug is excreted primarily in feces and urine within the first 12 hours, with excretion continuing for 8 days. It is effective against most lung and gastrointestinal roundworms and ascarids.
