COMPOSITION
It is a clear, colorless or light yellow solution containing 250 mg caffeine.
PHARMACOLOGICAL PROPERTIES
Kafevil Solution for Injection contains caffeine, a xanthine-derived alkaloid. Caffeine is a highly effective central nervous system stimulant. Although heart rate initially slows down due to stimulation of the central nervous system, it soon stimulates the heart muscle, accelerating the heart rate regularly. This increases the heart's power, accelerates the pulse, raises blood pressure, and improves blood supply to the heart due to the dilation of the coronary arteries. It stimulates striated muscles, increasing contraction and exertion power (Doping). Caffeine works by inhibiting the activity of phosphodiesterase, which breaks down cAMP, thereby extending the half-life of this nucleotide in cells. Caffeine is absorbed at nearly 100% from the site of application and distributed throughout the body. 80-85% is excreted in the urine within 48 hours.
AREA OF USE / INDICATIONS
It is used as a stimulant in all cases requiring CNS and particularly respiratory center stimulation.
Indications include:
As a cardiac stimulant in febrile diseases (e.g., pneumonia, foot-and-mouth disease)
To stimulate respiration, especially in cardiac diseases
For ascites of portal and renal origin (with digitalis, as a diuretic)
To enhance striated muscle activity

Prior to administration of arecoline and similar agents to support cardiac function
